Golden Mile Singapore
Through a thoughtfully planned conservation process, the adaptive reuse strategies for The Golden Mile focus on restoring the retained historic fabric meticulously whilst managing change with deep sensitivity. The distinctive architectural elements of this tropical megastructure - such as its iconic stepped form, characteristic atria, distinct oculus-shaped elements, facade bands, and selected mosaic tiled floors - shall be retained. The Golden Mile carefully integrates a new extension on top of the conserved building, offering additional workspaces. Introducing this new element to the historic building creates a dialogue between past and present, refreshing it for contemporary uses. Designed for continual relevance, The Golden Mile will not only remain a cultural and architectural landmark, but also a vibrant lifestyle hub for our community. It will house a wide spectrum of retail, F&B, medical suites, collaborative workspaces, and even an architecture centre to celebrate and inspire greater appreciation of Singapore’s architectural heritage.
Aurea, the new residential tower adjacent to The Golden Mile, has its name derived from the Latin word for “golden”. It not only reflects Golden Mile Complex’s legacy in name, but also in its design language and spirit. Honouring the original vision of Golden Mile Complex as a catalyst of urban revitalisation, character-defining elements have been intentionally carried over and reinterpreted in Aurea, featuring as strong linear bands, oculus windows throughout its shared spaces and facilities; with spacious balconies and hanging gardens, elevating liveability and wellness.
